There are many ways for NH survivors of suicide to get involved:
- Awareness/Fundraising Walks - Attend a NH walk to raise funds and awareness about suicide and mental illness.
- Bi-monthly Survivor Conference Call - Join a bi-monthly conference call to learn about survivor efforts and share ideas with other NH survivors.
- Community Health and Healing Fund - Limited funds are available to assist communities in the aftermath of a suicide death. Anyone may apply for funds and the applications are reviewed by a committee on an ongoing basis. Survivors have used funding to start support groups, attend trainings, produce brochures etc. Click here for an application.
- Media Resource/Education - The way suicide is portrayed in the media is very powerful. Learn how to tell your story safely to the media and how to help us monitor stories about suicide in your local newspaper.
- NH Lifekeeper Quilt - The NH Lifekeeper Quilt was created by NH survivors in July of 2007. For more information on the quilt project, click here.
- NH Suicide Prevention Committees - Both the NH Suicide Prevention Council and the Youth Suicide Prevention Assembly value survivor input. Consider attending a meeting or joining a committee. Click here for details.
- NH Survivor of Suicide Loss Support Group - Visit Support Groups for a listing of NH groups. If you are interested in starting a NH Support Group in your area, group facilitator training and support to help you start a group is available.
- NH Survivor Calendar of Events - Throughout the year, there are events in New Hampshire and nationally that might be of interest to you. Calendar
- NH Survivor Email List - Sign up to receive updates about NH survivor events.
- NH Survivors Newsletter - Write an article, poem or letter, or help edit the newsletter.
- Survivors of Suicide (SOS) Loss Speakers Bureau - The SOS Loss Speakers Bureau is a NAMI NH Program comprised of individuals that have lost a loved one to suicide who have been trained to speak safely and effectively about their loss to the public. These families speak about the loss of their loved one, how they coped and continue to cope with the loss, and what has and has not helped along the way. Trainings are offered twice a year for survivors interested in joining the Speakers Bureau.
